Participation in COP 23

A 20 member delegation from Beyond Copenhagen including Justice Panachand Jain, Dr. Sanjay Paswan, ShAtulAnjaan, Sh Om Thanvi, ShSharad Joshi participated in the COP and engaged in various activities.
BCPH organized a series of side events and members participated in various side events, media events and other activities. The side events organized by BCPH included (i) Will we have Paris without pre 2020, India Pavilion, 16th Nov, (ii) Just Energy Transition, 15th Nov, (iii) climate finance and transparency, 8th Nov, (iv) Energy Transition in Bangladesh, 10th November, Berlin, (v) the Coal Endgame, 7th November, and (vii) the Right to say no to dirty energy, 6th November. All of these events were organized with a number of southern and northern NGO partners.
In the side event organized at India pavilion, Minister MOEFCC, Dr. Harsh Vardhan, Secretary of the MOEFCC, Sh C K Mishra and Additional Seretary Mr. A K Mehta were also present. Other speakers included Meena Raman (TWN),SoumyaDutta (BCPH), Vice Yu (South Centre) and Ms. Maria Theresa Lauren (Ibon International). The Coalition also brought a publication on the COP 23 issues.

Conference of Parties (COP)

PAIRVI has been participating in the UNFCCC annual meeting Conference of Parties (COP) since 2009. PAIRVI as a part of Beyond Copenhagen organized a number of event/activities and interventions in every COP. The coalition has been participating in the Cop to highlight issues of climate justice, agriculture and food security and small farmers in climate change negotiations. The coalition has also scaled up these issues at sub national, national, regional levels. Pairvi’s experience at these side events have contributed significantly in capacity building, policy discussion and legitimizing global governance.
