Peoples Manifesto meeting in MP and Rajasthan

CECOEDECON, PAIRVI and MAUSAM organized consultations to come up with Peoples Manifesto and see peoples priorities from the sustainability point of view. The Rajasthan Consultation was organized at Jaipur on 8th August, while the Madhya Pradesh Consultation was organized at Indore on  24th August. Aspirations of peoples have been shared with various political parties.

Meeting with the University of Florida delegation

3rd July 2018, Delhi

A half day meeting was organized with the delegation and students of the Non profit management of University of Florida. Prof. Sanjai Bhatt, Mr. Suneel Vatsyayan and Ajay Jha interacted with the students giving them an orientation on non profit management in India, society and culture, and other national and global issues of relevance.

Workshop on social responses to restore harmony

25th and 26th July, Delhi

A one and half day workshop was organized to discuss probable social responses to restore harmony in the light of recent fracture in social fabric and culture of peaceful co-existence of religions. More than 30 activists and CSOs working on shared heritage (saajhivirasat), communal harmony and peacebuilding participated in the workshop and discussed social and legal approaches to restore harmony and promote peace.

Construction workers registration camps

In the month of June and July 2018 four camps were organized by PAIRVI in collaboration with Nagrik Adhikar Manch to fecilitate the registration process of construction workers in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. Registration forms of more than 600 construction workers were filled under the Building and other Construction Workers (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Act. Registration under the act will make the construction workers entitled to the welfare schemes and other benefits which are still denied to them.

Fact Finding Visit to Tummalapalle Uranium mines area

12 -13 June 2018

A visit to the Tummalapalle Uranium mines tailing pond and villages around the mine Tummalapalle, revealed possibly very large scale radioactive material/ particles contamination of air and groundwater.  Unusually high no of residents, particularly children, are having serious skin "lesions", which could be skin cancer (need to be examined by an experienced medical professional). Hectares of banana plantations are wasted - could be also because of the large Sodium salt content in ground water, as UCIL is using a leaching process using high concentration of Sodium salts.  Dozens of goats & sheep dying, cows & buffaloes also died when drinking leaked-from-pipe discharges. The fact finding generated stirs and print as well as digital media reported on the findings.

Consultation with Paharia, Particular Vulnerable Tribal Group

On 29th May 2018 at Godda, Jharkhand, About 30 participants from SundarPahari, Dhamani Bazar and Buarizor area community participated in the meeting. This is the follow up meeting of field visit conducted last month. Participants expressed their concerns and shared the challenges they face in normal life. The Conservation Cum Development Plan designed for each PVTG by Government was not visible at the ground.
The field trip to Murchura village under SarathPanchayat in Deoghra district was conducted on 30th May to study the living conditions of eight families of Paharia Tribes who have descended from the hills to live in plain area.
 

Meeting with the Pahariya PVTGs

Godda, Jharkhand

Din Bandhu Vats undertook a networking visit to pahariya villages in Godda in Jharkhand. PAIRVI seeks to conduct a research on the status of Pahariya tribes and link them with appropriate social security measures. Besides, representatives from pahariya community, he also met several NGOs working with the dwindling community.

MahakaliSamvaad and Meeting of the Indo-Nepal Joint Action Forum (INJAF)

27th April, Banbasa, Uttarakhand

The Consultation was organized by INJAF to discuss and emphasize cross border concerns including Mahakali River, human trafficking, water sharing agreements and indo Nepal relations. More than 50 organizations from both sides of the border including Maiti Nepal, REEDS, NEEDS, INSEC, NNSWA (from Nepal) participated in the Consultation. Ajay Jha and Dinbandhu Vats from PAIRVI participated in the Consultation.

भारियाः विकास का वर्तमान परिदृश्य विषय पर राज्य स्तरीय परिचर्चा

स्थानीय होटल रॉयल विलास में ‘‘भारियाः विकास का वर्तमान परिदृश्य”  विषय पर पैरवी, नई दिल्ली व सत्यकाम जन कल्याण समिति, छिंदवाड़ा द्वारा परिचर्चा का आयोजन किया गया, जिसमें भोपाल, छिंदवाड़ा, रीवा, सीधी, होशंगाबाद, ग्वालियर व शिवपुरी की विभिन्न सामाजिक संस्थाओं के प्रतिनिधियों ने भागीदारी की। आयोजन में पैरवी द्वारा मध्य प्रदेश के छिंदवाड़ा जिले के पातालकोट क्षेत्र में रहने वाली जनजाति ‘भारिया’पर किए गए एक अध्ययन की रिपोर्ट प्रस्तुत की गई, जिसके परिदृश्य में विभिन्न आदिवासी समुदायों की दशा पर वक्ताओं ने अपनी बात रखी।

Consultation on Access to Safe Drinking Water in Government Primary Schools in rural Bihar

PAIRVI has conducted a fact finding on access to safe drinking water in the schools and analyzed the four parameters (TDS, Iron, Arsenic and E Coli) of water samples of 26 government primary schools in Vaishali and Samastipur which are arsenic affected districts in 17th -18th July 2017. However, this is very small sample size but the result is very startling.
