Training toolkits for CSOs

PAIRVI in collaboration with OFFER network developed 6 training toolkits for CSOs. These toolkits and modules will help CSOs with understanding nuances and application of -

(i) Rights Based Approach to Development

(ii) Localizing SDGs

(iii) Citizens and Entitlements

(iv) Networking and Advocacy

(v) Community Mobilization, and

(vi) key NGO Policies.

Letter to Union Health Minister for monitoring sewage water for SARS Cov.2

May 2020

PAIRVI sent a letter to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the NDMA asking them to monitor sewage water for corona virus. It can be a good proxy for community testing, which is difficult due to lack of test kits.

Virtual meeting on migrants issue

07th and 20th May 2020

Two meeting were organized to discuss and decide next steps for PAIRVI/MAUSAM partners on the poor plight of the migrant workers during COVID pandemic. More than 35 persons participated in the meeting held on 20th May. PAIRVI is looking forward to engage central and state governments on this issue.

PAIRVI Programme Review

07 May 2020

Review of PAIRVI human rights project is being conducted under the guidance of Prof. Manish Jha (TISS) and Dr. Saumya (IGNOU). A meeting with PAIRVI partners from 8 states was organized on 5th May. A meeting with externals was organized on 7th may in which Prof. Sanjay Paswan, Dr. Jayant (CASA), ShriArvind Mohan (Sr. Journalist), Ms. Sandhya Jain (Sr. journalist and senior Fellow JNML), Shri Vijay Pratap (SADED) and Shri Ashok BikramJairu (Nepal National Welfare Association) interacted with the Reviewers. A debriefing meeting was also organized with the Board of PAIRVI chaired by Prof. Sanjai Bhatt on 18th May wherein the reviewers presented the draft report. The final report will be shared by the reviewers soon.

Corona Awareness Campaign

18-20 March 2020, Banka, Bihar

Three-day awareness campaign was launched on 18th March 2020 in five villages of Banka districts.  More than 100 households mostly from marginalized sections of society were informed about importance of personal and community hygiene in view of spread of COVID 19. Frequent hand washing with correct techniques has emerged as one of the important ways to prevent this contagious disease.   Steps to wash the hand in right way were demonstrated among the people. Soaps were also distributed to each household.

Study on Effectiveness of DLSA and Consultation on Access to Legal Services and Justice

28th February 2020, Lucknow

The Consultation on ‘Access to Legal Services and Justice’ was organized by PAIRVI and Amaltas on 28th February 2020 in Lucknow.  The Consultation was addressed to social workers, lawyers and human rights defenders, academicians, and law students working to promote the legal aid services and access to justice.  An impact assessment report of DLSA Lucknow was shared and discussed in the meeting. More than 30 participants participated in the meeting.The Consultation was preceded byan impact assessment of DLSA Lucknow organised by PAIRVI. The Study contained basic structure and functioning of  DLSA, mechanism of justice delivery, responses from clients and their satisfaction quotient, challenges and  recommendation and suggestions.

Workshop at SIT

13 February 2020, Delhi

Pairvi organised a workshop for students from Amrican universities at the invitation of SIT, Delhi. These students are part of an exchange programme which SIT organises every semester and will travel to different parts of India. The focus of the workshop was to equip the students with Indian conditions particularly with regard to climate change, sustainable development, agriculture and food security, disaster management etc. Approx. 40 students and colleagues from the SIT participated in the two hour workshop.

Needs and Vulnerability Assessment Workshop

01-02 February, Jamui

The workshop was organised in the FAP project on increasing pulse biodiversity in tribal areas in eastern states. All project partners from Bihar, Jharkhand, madhya Pradesh, Chhatisgarh and West Bengal.

Legal Assistance in Bihar and Jharkhand

January-February 2020

Legal aid was provided to six people seeking justice in Ranchi district of Jharkhand and five people including children in Rohtas district of Bihar.  PAIRVI facilitated the people in filing the case, disposing off the pending cases, granting bail for prisoners who are lodged behind the bars and need legal representation.

Consultations on Access to Justice and Prison Reforms

29 January 2020 (BHU) and 02 February 2020 (Raipur)

State Consultation on ‘Access to Justice and Prisoners’ Rights’ was organized in collaboration with Centre for Study of Social Exclusion and Inclusive Policy, Facility of Social Sciences, BHU, Varanasi.The consultation was organized to share the UP Prisoners Rights Report and to discuss the condition of prison, prisoners and prison reforms in Uttar Pradesh. More than 100 participants including Secretary DLSA Varanasi, retired judges, academicians, law students, and advocates participated in the consultation.The Consultation in Raipur was organized to share theChhattisgarh prisoners’ rights report. Around 40 participants including advocates, prison and judicial officials participated in the discussion. Participants discussed about the challenges of access to justice with special reference to South Bastar, status of prisoners’ rights and legal aid in Chhattisgarh, prison reforms and its challenges, life inside a Jail, reforms in jail administration, reformation, rehabilitation of prisoners, judicial delay, compliances of Jail manuals, custodial torture, and death.

PAIRVI works with grassroots organization to protect human rights, promote internationally accepted standards of human rights and monitor human rights conditions. It works to strengthen peoples capacity to respond to human rights challenges and improve human rights infrastructure.
