Consultation on Access to Safe Drinking Water in Government Primary Schools in rural Bihar

PAIRVI has conducted a fact finding on access to safe drinking water in the schools and analyzed the four parameters (TDS, Iron, Arsenic and E Coli) of water samples of 26 government primary schools in Vaishali and Samastipur which are arsenic affected districts in 17th -18th July 2017. However, this is very small sample size but the result is very startling.  

National Consultations on Reclaiming the Rights of Marginalized Communities

The  national consultation on reclaiming the rights of marginalized communities was organized by Pairvi in Bodhgaya ,Bihar on 28th-29th August 2017.Among the marginalized group, the Consultation focused on informal workers particularly the beedi workers, Particular Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVGT) specifically Paharia tribes and prisoners’ rights.

Multi-State Workshop on Enhancing the Access to Justice

Status of specially Abled Children in Education System

PAIRVI along with NIWCYD Bhopal conducted a fact finding on "Status of Specially Abled Children in Education System" in Bhopal District of Madhya Pradesh from 17th April to 20th April 2017. Book Release of ‘Bihari Mazdooron ki Peeda’

Book titled ‘Bihari Mazdooron ki Peeda’ was released by Shri. Nitish Kumar, CM. the book has been produced by PAIRVI and written by Sh. Arvind Mohan senior journalist and former editor of Dainik Hindustan. Sh. Arvind Mohan, has a rich experience of working on Bihari migrant workers’ issue. ‘Bihari Mazdooron Ki Pida' (Agony of Bihari labourers), is based on the sufferings of the workers from Bihar who went to Punjab in search of job and settled there.

National Workshop on Development and Human Rights

28-29 April 2017, Delhi
Participants from 8 states participated in the workshop, which delved on the social, economic and political change and how human rights organizations should adapt to these changes. The workshop also collected some recommendations to sharpen PAIRVI’s future work on rights and development. Resource persons included Mr. P L Mimroth (CDR, Jaipur), Prof. Sanjai Bhatt (Department of Social Work, Delhi University), Sh. Ramakant Rai (Convener, National Coalition on Education, Delhi), Sh. Santosh Upadhyay (prisoners’ Rights activists).
 
 

State Consultation on Land Rights in UP

11th April 2017, Lucknow
PAIRVI released and discussed the paper on land rights with 40 stakeholders, who provided valuable comments. Representatives from government, political parties and media also attended the Consultation. The participants lauded PAIRVI’s effort in organizing Consultation on Land Rights as most of them felt that land rights is a forgotten agenda in contemporary times. The extract and recommendations from the report has been shared with relevant departments of the state government.
 
 

Dalit Dignity and Reality of Development

4th February 2017, Jaipur
A State Consultation was organized on 4th February,2017 at Institute of Development Studies, Jaipur to advocate the dalit dignity and their due share in development in Rajasthan. More than 50 dalit human right defenders, advocates, social workers, academician and representative of civil society organizations participated in the consultation.  Participants expressed their concern over dalit atrocities and deprivation in the state and discussed the measures to curb the crime and development deficit of dalits.

Janata Ki Sarkar; Janata Ke Mudde

PAIRVI & CECOEDECON along with a number of local organizations is led a campaign on alternative election manifesto in the UP state Assembly elections. The effort aims at putting important concerns of citizens in the centre stage in the elections. Three Consultations were organized across the state where hundreds of participants together with member of civil society organizations, social groups, farmer organizations, women organizations, academicians, journalists, representatives of different political parties etc. participated and shared their views.

People’s Forum on BRICS

13th – 14th October 2016, Goa
Just two days before the BRICS meeting (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa) hosted by India in Goa, a two-day long People’s Forum on BRICS was organized at the Xavier’s Centre for Historical Research, Alto Porvorim, Goa by various people’s movement and NGOs working on various issues across the BRICS countries. The People’s Forum rejected the main stream development agenda of BRICS countries governments and set a positive agenda for the people.
