Refugees Crisis and Amendment in the Citizenship Law

7th October 2016, Lucknow
A Consultation was organized on refugee crisis and amendment in Citizenship law in India at IIC, Delhi to discuss content and intent of the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016. Academicians, journalists, social works, and refugees living in Delhi participated in the meeting and shared their concerns about the Bill and violations of refugee rights in India. Activist and social workers were informed about the content and intent of the Bill and emerging refugee crisis in India and across the world.

Removing the Barriers: Ensuring Justice

To carry PAIRVI’s mission to the larger community by bridging the gap between human rights and development and making the development an inclusive and sustainable it has organized the Human Rights’ Training Workshop in Lucknow. The Workshop was organized with an objective to build the clear understanding of the participants over the theoretical, operational and practical dimension of justice so that people’s access to justice can be simplified. 

State Consultation on Plugging the Development Deficits of Dalits in Bihar

15th March 2016, Bihar
 
On the occasion of birth anniversary of Dalit leader Mr. Kashiram, a famous social reformer and political thinker, a Consultation was organized at A N Sinha Social Research Institute at Patna. People from social, educational and political sectors participated in the Consultation. The consultation witnessed presence of more than 100 participants across the state including dalit activists, social activists, member of civil society organization policy makers, academicians, and media persons.  The consultation started with floral tribute to Shri Kanshi Ram Ji.

Fact Finding on Chaiti Devi’s Hunger Death

25th January 2016, Bihar

Chaiti Devi (F, 35) was reported to have died from hunger in the village Samaspura, Purkholi Panchayat, Distt Vasishali on 19th January. The district administration and the state government denied hunger death and labeled it as a death resulting from cold conditions in the state. A fact finding team composed of NGOs, lawyer, human rights workers and political representatives visited the village on 25th January. The fact finding revealed that indeed the death was caused by persistent hunger.

Providing Safer livelihood Option for Beedi Workers in Deoghar

24th December, Deoghar, Jharkhand

A workshop was organized at Deoghar on 24th December collectively by Pairvi, Lok Vikas Sanstha, Smagra Seva, Lok Prerna Samadhan and International Human Rights Association. The workshop witnessed presence of 50 Participants including Beedi workers, representatives of labor union and civil society organizations. 

Human Rights Training Workshop

15th-16th December, Raipur, Chhattisgarh

Human Rights Training Workshop was organized at Raipur, Chhattisgarh.  Around 50 human rights activists including police personal and advocates were trained.  They were informed about how to use judiciary and quasi-judiciary system to seek the justice.  They were informed about to conduct the fact finding particularly at conflict zone.  
 
Participants were informed about the basic understanding of human rights, role of human rights institutions and new challenges of human rights.  A jail visit was also conducted to understand the dehumanizing jail conditions.

Procession to Mark Human Rights Day

10th December 2015, Jamui, Bihar

In order to mark the Human Rights Day and increase awareness about human rights among the common people particularly the vulnerable sections of the society, human rights activists and social workers organized a procession. Around 100 people participated.

Fact Finding on Murder of Five Women in Jharkhand labeling Them as Dayan

5th & 6th October, Ranchi Jharkhand

A case of Witch Hunting was reported by media in August. The tragic incident of lynching of five women, mainly from tribal community, branded as witches by a group of villagers took place at Maray Toli, 2.5 kilometer away from Mandar police station in outskirt of capital city Ranchi in Jharkhand.

Human Rights: Issues, Status and Challenges

10th August 2015, Seoni, Madhya Pradesh

In a Consultation organized by PAIRVI in Seoni, Madhya Pradesh, representatives from around 30 organizations have participated to promote and protect the human rights situation in the region. The discussion included different areas of human rights including education, health, women and child development, climate change and agriculture. 

National Consultation on Indo-Nepal Human Trafficking Post Earth Quake Perspective: Concerns and Challenge

3rd – 4th August 2015, New Delhi
 
PAIRVI along with it partners in India and Nepal organized a two-day National Consultation to look into the challenges and concerns of human trafficking between India and Nepal particularly in post earthquake perspective. Ms. Swati Maliwal, Chairperson, Delhi Commission for Women was the chief guest of the event. The Consultation witnessed around 100 participants across board including civil society organizations, government officials, media persons, activists, from India and Nepal. Speakers and participants actively expressed their view on gaps in legal and institutional framework in dealing with human trafficking and challenges and response in rescue and rehabilitation to deal with person in trafficking.
