Stakeholder Dialogue on Juvenile Justice and Legal Aid

The  stakeholder dialogue titled “Breaking Barriers: Collective Action for Juvenile Justice and Legal Aid” was organized at AN Sinha Institute of Social Studies, Patna on 3rd June 2025. This meeting witnessed the participation of Ms. Shilpee Soniraj, Member Secretary, Bihar State Legal Services Authority, Patna, Ms. Anupam, Registrar of the Authority, Ms Nisha Jha, Former Chairperson Bihar State Child Protection Committee, and other relevant stakeholders. Ms. Soniraj offered full institutional support to PAIRVI and committed to ensuring follow-ups on field-level concerns. She emphasised the importance of practical engagement and inter-agency coordination to improve outcomes for vulnerable children. She urged civil society organizations to write letter to District Legal Services Authority  whenever the need of Authority is required.   Ms. Anupama, Registrar, BSLSA, assured that BSLSA would actively support PLV training initiatives and expressed willingness to collaborate wherever their presence is required. Her remarks reflected an openness to decentralised and community-embedded legal aid strategies. The dialogue aimed to address the systemic barriers hindering effective legal aid for juveniles and undertrial prisoners.

Discussions emphasized the need for stronger inter-agency collaboration, improved accountability mechanisms, and collective strategies to bridge the legal assistance gap. The exchange of insights yielded several valuable recommendations that will inform ongoing and future interventions in the juvenile justice system. Throughout the course of the discussions, stakeholders put forth several practical and forward-looking recommendations to enhance the juvenile justice system and access to legal aid for CICLs and UTPs
