Community Meeting with Paharia PVTG

Kosigoda and Kunjbona Villages, under Littipara block of Pakur distrcit, Jharkhand 7–8 September 2025.

The  community meeting  was organized at Kunjbona Panchayat in Littipara block, attended by participants from different hamlets of the Paharia Primitive Tribe community. The session was facilitated by Samuel Malto, whose effort ensured structured discussions and encouraged open, participatory dialogue among community members. The focus of the meeting was on social, economic, and political empowerment, with an emphasis on enabling the Paharia community to engage more effectively with local governance and development processes. The key outcomes of the day included increased awareness of government welfare schemes and the Gram Sabha, a reaffirmed commitment to form multi-tiered community organizations from village to state levels, and a plan to train Paharia youth in skill development for livelihood enhancement. The community also agreed on collective action planning and recognized the need for a structured capacity-building roadmap to strengthen participation in governance and ensure access to entitlements.

Overall, the two-day engagement represented a significant step in PAIRVI’s efforts to empower the Paharia Primitive Tribe communities in Littipara and Sundarpahari blocks. The field visit facilitated direct interaction with villagers and provided insights into local challenges, while the community meeting helped identify concrete solutions and next steps. The decision to organize a two-day workshop on PRIs and government schemes emerged as a key achievement, providing a practical mechanism to equip the community with knowledge and tools for self-advocacy. Moving forward, PAIRVI remains committed to supporting the formation of grassroots committees, promoting awareness and access to government schemes, facilitating skill development, and strengthening tribal organizations to represent the community’s interests effectively. Through sustained engagement and collaborative efforts, PAIRVI aims to enable the Paharia community to achieve dignity, inclusion, and empowerment, laying the foundation for long-term social and economic development.
