1st PLV training of second year was organized on “Child Protection; Legal Framework and Community Engagement” in collaboration with Narayan School of Law, Gopal Narayn Singh University, Jamuhar, Sasaram, Rohtas on 15-16 December 2025.
40 PLVs including law students of the university participated in this workshop. Child rights expert Mr. Sunil Jha served as the resource person of the workshop. He discussed social legislations like Juvenile Justice Act, 2015, POCSO Act, 2012, Child and Adolescent Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act, 1986 (amended in 2016), and Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006. Mr. Jha gave a detailed orientation on the two classifications of children – CNCP and CICLs under the JJ Act and explained the important provisions that were applicable to them. He also discussed principles like presumption of innocence, principles of natural justice, meaning of child as under the JJ Act, the statutory bodies like Child Welfare Committee and the Juvenile Justice Board and their powers and functions. Using case studies on child marriage and children forced into labour, he organised a discussion on how the laws related to child marriage, child labour and the JJ Act could be enforced to prevent these practices and exploitation of children.
