United Nations Environment Assembly will take place in February 2022 at Nairobi Kenya. Major Groups Facilitating Committee (MGFC) of the UNEP has been preparing through a series of activities towards UNEA. An MGFC International Consultation was organized during 7th to 10th 155th CPR Meeting on 28th September, Annual Sub Committee of the UNEA and CPR Bureau Meeting on 25th October, and MGFC Calls on 15th September, and 27th October were also organized towards the preparation of the UNEA. Ajay K Jha also leads the Food Systems Transformation Track towards the UNEA 5.2 and a meeting was organized on Food systems Transformation on 22nd October.

Consultation on IPCC Report (PRE-COP)

An online Consultation on the IPCC Report ( Working Group 1 Physical Science Basis) published in August titled “Recent IPCC Report and its Implications for Climate, people and COP 26” was organized on 8th October to discuss the main findings of the IPCC report and global outlook before COP 26 and expectations from the COP. The report highlights of advancing climate impacts and 1.5 target is likely to be breached by 2030s itself as against earlier predicted 2040s. The speakers included Prof. Krishna AchutaRao (Lead Author of the IPCC Report & IIT Delhi), Meena Raman (Third World Network), Maria Theresa Lauren (Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung, Philippines) and SoumyaDutta (MAUSAM). Healthy Mother- Healthy Child Dialogue Series

Under 'Healthy Mother-Healthy Child Dialogue Series' two online consultations were organized on the issue of viral fever and snake bite on 10th September and 1st October 2021 respectively. This dialogue series was launched jointly by PAIRVI, Samagra Seva and Bal Sathi. Purpose of this exercise is to make the local community aware about health issues, spread awareness about the prevention and management of daily health and provide medical counseling. Dr. SK Jha, Child Specialist, Jamui, Dr. PK Sinha , Neurologist, Abu Dhabi,  Dr. Anandmayee Sinha, senior specialist in obstetrics and gynecology, NMC Royal Medicine Centre, UAE, Dr. Kiran Sinha, ex- general practitioner, NHS England and Dr. Prabha Sinha senior specialist in obstetrics and gynecology, London were among the doctors who provide counseling support of the people.

Role of Panchayat Elections in Strengthening PRIs

PAIRVI and Chetna Samajik Sanstha collaborated to organize a State Consultation on Strengthening PRIS in the light of the upcoming Panchayat Elections in Bihar at AN Sinha Institute of Social Studies, Patna on 30th September. The Consultation discussed best practices and how Panchayat elections and its functioning can be improved in Bihar. An informal voluntary group Panchayat Chetna comprised of local social workers was formed. This group is led by Chetna Samajik Sanstha and will organized massive awareness campaign for Panchayat election.  The Consultation is witnessed by more than 60 participants across the state. Youth Dialogue on Education, Educational Institutions and Challenges of Hostels

  PAIRVI along with other partners organized an online consultation with teachers, policymakers, youth and students on Education, Educational Institutions and Challenges of Hostels on 28th September. More than 50 participants discussed status of facilities to the youth including poor housing and library facilities. The Dialogue witnessed the presence of Dr. Bharati Mehta, Chairperson, Bihar Sanskrit Siksha Board and Prof. Sanajy Pawan Ex- Union Minister and current MLC, Bihar as distinguished guests. Youth Townhalls were organized on 21st and 23rd September to engage the youth on the issues related to climate change in their cities. More than 125 youth and CSOs participated in these two townhalls which discussed climate change, SDGs, status of civic facilities etc. along with relevant officials including Mayors of these two cities. The Townhall in Bikaner was organized by PAIRVI, CECOEDECON and PEN Foundation in collaboration with Shri Ashok Mathur and Lokmat Newspaper; while that in Jaisalmer was organized in collaboration with ShriBhagirath Mal and Maitri Foundation. MGOS organizes a call every second Friday to discuss important issues related to HLPF, SDGS, CM and its members, and any other issues. A number of calls were also organized by the MGOS to follow up on the HLPF during this period. 4th Asia Pacific Forum on Environment Ministers and High Officials;

The Forum will be organized in a hybrid mode on 5th to 8th October. Ajay K Jha, Regional Facilitator, AP is the lead to collaborate between UNEP/AP and APRCEM, organize CSOs Forum and ensure facilitation with the Ministerial Forum. A series of activities were organized towards the planning, coordination with UNEP and the host government, Republic of Korea and preparation for the AP CSOs Forum and 4th Ministerial Forum.
