Consultation on IPCC Report (PRE-COP)

An online Consultation on the IPCC Report ( Working Group 1 Physical Science Basis) published in August titled “Recent IPCC Report and its Implications for Climate, people and COP 26” was organized on 8th October to discuss the main findings of the IPCC report and global outlook before COP 26 and expectations from the COP. The report highlights of advancing climate impacts and 1.5 target is likely to be breached by 2030s itself as against earlier predicted 2040s. The speakers included Prof. Krishna AchutaRao (Lead Author of the IPCC Report & IIT Delhi), Meena Raman (Third World Network), Maria Theresa Lauren (Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung, Philippines) and SoumyaDutta (MAUSAM). Youth Climate Townhalls at Bikaner and Jaisalmer

Youth Townhalls were organized on 21st and 23rd September to engage the youth on the issues related to climate change in their cities. More than 125 youth and CSOs participated in these two townhalls which discussed climate change, SDGs, status of civic facilities etc. along with relevant officials including Mayors of these two cities. The Townhall in Bikaner was organized by PAIRVI, CECOEDECON and PEN Foundation in collaboration with Shri Ashok Mathur and Lokmat Newspaper; while that in Jaisalmer was organized in collaboration with ShriBhagirath Mal and Maitri Foundation. Governance Review 2020-2021

We contributed to the climate change and environment part of the Governance Review for 2020-21. PAIRVI/MAUSAM has been helping with governance review of climate change and environment part for many years. Governance review organized by WNTA is a comprehensive review of governance, gaps and concrete recommendations and demands covering economic, social and environmental sectors besides, governance, human rights, and democracy. The Review was released in a widely attended consultation on 26th July.

HLPF took place in New York during 6th to 15th July. The event was hybrid but majority of the participants participated virtually. Ajay K Jha, represented APRCEM in the MGOS Coordination mechanism which facilitated participation of CSOs from all over the world in the HLPF. Ajay also participated in MGOS CM meetings, Advocacy group Meetings, APRCEM meetings and briefings, a number of side events, bilateral meetings with the delegation of the Korea and Fiji, meetings with the UNDESA, Informal Consultations on the Ministerial Declaration and Strengthening ECOSOC; the High Level Segment of the ECOSOC.
