The consultation on Talash Naye Avsar Ki was organized jointly by PAIRVI and JJBVK, at Savitri Bai Phule Auditorium, Samastipur, Bihar on the occasion of International Women’s Day.   Large number of women workers and adolescent girls participated in the consultation. The consultation primarily focused on gender equality, rights to livelihood, equal opportunity, and right to education. Women beedi workers have also participated in the consultation and shared their concerns. Panelists also discussed about the crime against adolescent girls particularly sexual assaults, trafficking, child marriage and child labour. They have expressed their concerns over raising the number of crimes against the women in the district.    They have urged for a large social coalition to cope with women's issues. Women participants and panelists have been felicitated by the organization to commemorate the women’s Day.

Youth Dialogue was organized by PAIRVI in Collaboration with Centre for Study of Social Exclusion and Inclusive Policy (CSSEIP), Faculty of Social Sciences, BHU, Varanasi on 16th December 2021. The push towards online classes and use of digital technology in education predates the pandemic, but it has garnered greater public attention due to pandemic-induced curbs on physical meetings and spaces. Consultations with women beedi workers in Samastipur, Jamui and Banka, Bihar on 3rd, 6th and 7th December 2021

PAIRVI has been working with women beedi workers to improve their human rights conditions and life situation. Baseline survey of 329 women headed households of beedi workers in Jamui, Banka and Samastipur districts in Bihar and Jabalpur district has been conducted to empirically observe and document the life situations, livelihood conditions, access to basic needs and social security benefits of beedi workers.  After this survey the consultations with women beedi workers were organized to devise to further interventions with them. Baseline survey of more than 300 women headed households of beedi workers in Jamui, Banka and Samastipur districts in Bihar and Jabalpur district in Madhya Pradesh has been conducted to empirically observe and document the life situations, livelihood conditions, access to basic needs and social security benefits of beedi workers. This survey is devised to further interventions with this marginalized community and engages with them to ensure their livelihoods and improve the life situation and to develop a cooperative of women beedi workers to make their work commercially sustainable.

The Consultation was organized on 22nd November as a follow up of previous consultation on the same issue. Prof Sanjay Paswan, MLC and Coordinator, Prison Reforms Committee Bihar Legislative Council, Nisha Jha, former Chairperson, State Commission for protection of Child Rights, Bihar, Mukhtarul Haq, Bachpan Bachao Andolan, Santosh Upadhyaya, Bandi Adhikar Andolan, Sunil Jha Child Rights Activist, Praveen Kumar, Law Foundation Bihar, Santosh Kumar Advocate Patna High court and many other prominent activists and CSOs participated in the consultation. It was decided to undertake sustained advocacy campaign on the issue and form a delegation to meet IG prisons, Shri Mithilish Mishra. Dinbandhu Vats led the consultation on behalf of PAIRVI.

Advocacy Training for Empowering the adolescent Girl

PAIRVI conducted an Advocacy Training for youth group organized by PANI, UP in Ambedkar Nagar on 12th to 14th November. The workshop focused on advocacy for young girls aged between 16-19 on health, nutrition and education. Young activists were imparted trainings to understand about the basics of advocacy, community led advocacy, importance of information in advocacy and develop clear understanding to prepare the advocacy plan at community level.  Dinbandhu Vats was the principal facilitator for the workshop.

E-Shram Card Camps in Bihar

Our Local Partner Lok Vikas Sansthan organized the camps in the month of October–November. During these camps e-Shram card was issued to 81 women beedi workers and 75 other informal labors in Jamui and Banka districts in Bihar. It will have details of name, occupation, address, educational qualification, skill types and family details etc. for optimum realization of their employability and extend the benefits of the social security schemes to them.

Under 'Healthy Mother-Healthy Child Dialogue Series' two online consultations were organized on the issue of viral fever and snake bite on 10th September and 1st October 2021 respectively. This dialogue series was launched jointly by PAIRVI, Samagra Seva and Bal Sathi. Purpose of this exercise is to make the local community aware about health issues, spread awareness about the prevention and management of daily health and provide medical counseling. Dr. SK Jha, Child Specialist, Jamui, Dr. PK Sinha , Neurologist, Abu Dhabi,  Dr. Anandmayee Sinha, senior specialist in obstetrics and gynecology, NMC Royal Medicine Centre, UAE, Dr. Kiran Sinha, ex- general practitioner, NHS England and Dr. Prabha Sinha senior specialist in obstetrics and gynecology, London were among the doctors who provide counseling support of the people.

Role of Panchayat Elections in Strengthening PRIs

PAIRVI and Chetna Samajik Sanstha collaborated to organize a State Consultation on Strengthening PRIS in the light of the upcoming Panchayat Elections in Bihar at AN Sinha Institute of Social Studies, Patna on 30th September. The Consultation discussed best practices and how Panchayat elections and its functioning can be improved in Bihar. An informal voluntary group Panchayat Chetna comprised of local social workers was formed. This group is led by Chetna Samajik Sanstha and will organized massive awareness campaign for Panchayat election.  The Consultation is witnessed by more than 60 participants across the state. Basant Rao Patil, Rashtriya Swabhiman Andolan, Sahina Praveen, The Hunger Project, Pushyamitra, Journalist, Rupesh Kumar, Koshish were among the speakers.
