Asia Pacific Forum of Ministers and Authorities of Environment | 3rd to 6th October, 2023 • UNEP organizes Regional Forum in all the 6 regions of the UN before each UNEA. This time UNEA is being organized during 26th February to 1st March 2024 at UNEP Headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya. In the Asia Pacific region, it was organized as titled “5th Forum of Ministers and Authorities of Environment in Asia Pacific.’ It was organized in collaboration with the Govt of Sri Lanka at Shangri-La Colombo on 4th and 5th October. Ajay K Jha was the Focal point of the APRCEM during the SDG Summit. He was invited to speak in the SDG Summit (Leader Dialogue 5) on the 18th September representing Asia Pacific Regional CSOs Engagement Mechanism (APRCEM) and CECOEDECON. He was also invited to speak in the MGOS Coordination Mechanism (MGOS CM) side event titled “Breaking the barriers and Leaning no one behind” on the 16th September. Jaipur. PAIRVI was invited to provide an update on global regional and national developments on climate change and sustainable development issues. The meeting was organized by CECOEDECON on the occasion of its Annual day, where more than 150 farmers, women farmers (federations), partners and other stakeholders were invited. Ajay K Jha represented PAIRVI and apprised the audience of the state of affairs on climate change (urgency and scale) and the sustainable development goals (covid 19 pandemic set back). Raipur, 19th to 21st Sept; More than 50 organizations and networks attended the SDG training organized by the CSODE network India. Ajay K Jha was the principal trainer for the workshop. Dehradun, 8th to 10th Dec; A workshop was organized for Uttarakhand partners by Mount Valley Development Association. The workshop, along with other dimensions of sustainable development also focused on climate change and risk assessment, and how to align local projects with the SDGs.

ESCAP SSWA organized South Asia Forum on the SDGs on 5th to 7th Dec at Islamabad. APRCEM South Asia decided to boycott participation in the South Asia Forum as ESCAP SSWA was supporting only one participant for the Forum. However, APRCEM South Asia decided to hold the Peoples Forum on 15th & 16th November 2022. A prep meeting was held for planning towards the South Asia Peoples Forum on 10th October.
Online: A review of the HLPF 2022 was organized by ADA wherein more than 50 organizations participated from various regions. Ajay K Jha provided a comprehensive review of the HLPF 2022. Ajay K Jha was invited as a resource person for the training of Apex Institutions by CECOEDECON at Shilki Dungri, Chaksu Block. The training was attended by more than 70 heads of the CBOs from 5 blocks Chaksu, Phagi, Malpura, Niwai and Shahbad, majority of them being farmers from the Kisan Seva Samiti.
