In Rohtas district of Bihar, PAIRVI facilitated four community meetings, engaging a total of approximately 200 participants across Dehri, Bhaikima, Sasaram Observation Home, and Darihat. These meetings were held on 11th, 18th, and 26th January, and 3rd February, creating important platforms for dialogue and community engagement. The sessions focused on raising awareness about the rights of Children in Conflict with Law (CICLs) and undertrial prisoners, while also strengthening community understanding of legal processes and support systems. The meetings served as vital spaces for disseminating key information on the availability of free legal aid services, the importance of Community Protection Committees (CPCs), and the proactive role of Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs) in ensuring access to justice. This meeting was organized with the primary objective of convening a partners’ meeting at AN Sinha Institute of Social Studies, Patna, Bihar on 13th January 2026. The meeting brought together key stakeholders and partners from Bihar and Jharkhand and was graced by distinguished international guests, including Daniel Boston from MISEREOR, Germany,  the key doner agency of the project and Manu Ott from the Dalit Solidarity Group. The session created an important platform for dialogue and exchange, where local partners shared their field-level experiences, key challenges, and expectations from the programme, highlighting the ground realities of working with marginalized communities. The Review and Planning Meeting held on 11 January 2026 at the Dehri office was organized to take stock of the ongoing programmes and activities under the APPI-supported project. Community Meetings to strengthen networks and raise awareness on child protection and child rights

Two community meetings were organized with community members at Shivpur and Balbhadrapur on 30th November and 19th December 2025. The meetings aimed to strengthen community networks and raise awareness on child protection and child rights, with a specific focus on Children in Conflict with Law (CICL) and Children in Need of Care and Protection (CNCP). Participants were sensitized on the importance of early identification and timely reporting of cases. Community members were encouraged to proactively inform PAIRVI about cases related to CICL and undertrial prisoners who need legal support.

Community Meeting with Women Beedi Workers

The community meeting with women beedi workers was organized on 18 December at Khalispur village, Sarairanjan Block, Samastipur District. More than 50 women beedi workers participated in the meeting. The primary purpose of the meeting was to finalize a three-month skill development training programme, scheduled to begin in January next year. Participants expressed strong interest in sewing/ tailoring training as a preferred livelihood option. During the discussion, key aspects such as selection of trainers, training structure, schedule, and related logistical issues were deliberated upon and finalized. The meeting marked an important step toward enhancing alternative livelihood opportunities for women beedi workers and supporting their economic empowerment.

Stakeholders Dialogue on Enhancing the effectiveness of Child Protection Committees

A stakeholder consultation on strengthening Village Level Child Protection Committees (VLCPCs) was organized at  Dehri-on-Sone on 17 December, with participation from 30 stakeholders, including PRI representatives, lawyers, journalists, Child Welfare Committee members, and social activists. The discussion highlighted the growing concerns around child trafficking, the limitations of rescue-centric approaches, and the weak functioning of VLCPCs due to administrative apathy and lack of training at the grassroots level. Speakers emphasized that effective child protection requires strong village-level prevention mechanisms rather than reliance only on post-facto rescue. The Chief Guest, MLA Mr. Sonu Singh, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to child rights and appreciated civil society efforts in this area. Paralegal Volunteer Training Workshop, Sasaram, Bihar

1st PLV training of second year was organized on "Child Protection; Legal Framework and Community Engagement" in collaboration with Narayan School of Law, Gopal Narayn Singh University, Jamuhar, Sasaram, Rohtas on 15-16 December 2025. 40 PLVs including law students of the university participated in this workshop. Child rights expert Mr. Sunil Jha served as the resource person of the workshop. He discussed social legislations like Juvenile Justice Act, 2015, POCSO Act, 2012, Child and Adolescent Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act, 1986 (amended in 2016), and Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006. Mr. Jha gave a detailed orientation on the two classifications of children – CNCP and CICLs under the JJ Act and explained the important provisions that were applicable to them.
