South Asia Peoples SDG Forum prep meeting

ESCAP SSWA organized South Asia Forum on the SDGs on 5th to 7th Dec at Islamabad. APRCEM South Asia decided to boycott participation in the South Asia Forum as ESCAP SSWA was supporting only one participant for the Forum. However, APRCEM South Asia decided to hold the Peoples Forum on 15th & 16th November 2022. A prep meeting was held for planning towards the South Asia Peoples Forum on 10th October.

FAO/ITPGR GB Meeting and Exhibition Launch

Delhi: PAIRVI project was selected for photoshoot for the exhibition during the FAO/ITPGE GB Meeting to be held in Delhi. Pudi Soren from Deoghar, and one of the participant farmer from PAIRVI project was the main subject of the shoot. Youth Workshop on Photo & Video Documentation

Human Rights

A one-day photo and video documentation workshop were organized in Jabalpur on August 29, 2022, in collaboration with Nagrik Adhikar Manch. The workshop was attended by 20 young participants who work with different communities, construction workers, domestic workers, beedi workers, etc. at the grassroots level. In today's time, photos and videos have become an essential part of documentation, but it is challenging for ground workers working with limited resources to buy good quality expensive photo and video cameras, on the other hand, smartphones with cameras are available to almost everyone today, so this workshop was mainly focused on smartphone / mobile photography and videography. Training of Apex organizations

Ajay K Jha was invited as a resource person for the training of Apex Institutions by CECOEDECON at Shilki Dungri, Chaksu Block. The training was attended by more than 70 heads of the CBOs from 5 blocks Chaksu, Phagi, Malpura, Niwai and Shahbad, majority of them being farmers from the Kisan Seva Samiti. Children and Pesticides Awareness Camp, 03-06 August 2022. Children are more susceptible to adverse health effects from exposure to pesticides. These adverse effects constrain the rights of children, unborn children, and future generations to a healthy environment and healthy development. The higher impacts of pesticide in children are due to the ratio between body weight and levels of exposure, as well as the faster development rate of children’s tissues, organs, and biological systems, which make them unable to process and effectively excrete some toxic substances. Pesticide safety plays an important role in protecting children’s health and well being. LDCs for NDC Consultation

Jaipur: The Consultation on Locally Determined Choices for Nationally Determined contribution was organized by CECOEDECON in collaboration with INECC at Swaraj Jaipur. The consultation discussed local adaptations and innovations in energy and food security and water to support NDCs. Ajay K Jha spoke in the inaugural and underlined a number of initiatives in food and energy in various Indian states which has potential for scaling up and contributing significantly to energy and food security and towards the achievement of Nationally Determined Contributions. The inaugural panel also had Dr. Priyadarshini Karve (INECC), Soumya Dutta and Deepesh Gupta (UNFPA).

He was instrumental in organizing a number of events at the HLPF briefly mentioned below; MGOS Official Session, 12th July: Ajay moderated the HLPF Official session which was chaired by the President of the ECOSOC.
